Ayu is also known for changing her style quite often; she’s had numerous different looks over the years.

- Trivia: Ayu has been having problems with her left ear since 2000, but just before her CDL 2007-2008 Anniversary concerts she told the shocking news; her left ear had gone completely deaf. Ayu posted on her blog: “Despite this news, I still wish to be a singer. I’m going to persevere and keep on singing even if it’s going to take my right ear’s ability to hear away, too. I’m not going to give up. I’m not going to find any excuses. As a professional singer, I will definitely deliver my best vocals and performance to everybody.”
During the recent Countdown Live, I sang the line “Who never gave up on me?” in “Who…”. It was a struggle, but I tried to sing it out. Choked with tears, my voice wouldn’t come out, and in the end, I never did sing that line in all 3 days. “Who…” is a song I wrote when I was young, but I still feel the same way now as I felt then. Because there were people who didn’t give up on me, and people who continued to believe in me, I can be as I am now, and will continue to be so in the future.
